McLean, VA – Retail bakeries through the Retail Bakers of America (RBA) will be participating in a national cookie poll campaign, beginning September 6, to increase community involvement in the United States presidential election.
Retail bakeries across the country will design cookies to represent both political parties. Cookies in colors of red and blue with images of the presidential candidates, their names and political party mascots will be offered to customers.
Participating bakeries will submit the total number of election cookies sold to the RBA offices for tabulation. Results of the nationwide poll will be announced weekly.
“RBA began the cookie poll for the 2004 election,” says RBA President, Lynn Schurman, co-owner of Cold Spring Bakery, Cold Spring, Minn. “Cookie sales were very accurate in predicting the winner.”
Randall McArthur, President of McArthur's Pastry Cake Bakery, St. Louis, Mo. states that the cookie poll is “a fun way to promote the election and get the community involved.”
